Nataliia Burmaka: Future in the Past

”Future in the Past” series of artworks delves into the captivating realm of alternative histories and potential climate futures, offering a profound reflection on the interconnectedness of climate and life. This exhibition challenges our conventional understanding of natural evolution and growth, presenting a vision of what might have been—and what could yet be. Rising sea levels, a critical aspect of contemporary climate change, finds reflective echo in the “Future in the Past” series. By juxtaposing past and future, the artworks invite viewers to reflect on how historical climatic conditions could have shaped life differently and, in turn, how current and future climate changes might influence the development of our environment and the living beings within it.

The project was created on art residence at Villa Rana 2023-2024

The works from this series are included into Climate Art Collection www.climateartcollection.com (Berlin, Germany)
